‘Fear not: for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour which is Christ the Lord’.[i]This news was a ‘Fear Not’ news. It was good news of hope, directly from heaven, and delivered by a newscaster, the angel; first to shepherds on a hillside in Judea. It was universal news – news to the whole world from a great and loving God!
The shepherds went to Bethlehem to check out what they had heard and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby Jesus in the manger.[ii] They saw, they believed and they published abroad the truth of the birth of the Saviour.
This good news today is old, yet ever new and continues to be published. Jesus grew up from boyhood into manhood and bore our sin by dying on the cross and rising again from the grave, on the third day. Jesus went back to heaven and He is coming back again.[iii] And now, He is offering pardon for sin and a new life to all who ask him to be their Saviour.
Like the shepherds and many followers of the Lord Jesus Christ today, you have the opportunity to believe the glad and good news about Jesus and act upon it. You will then meet Him, with great joy, at His second advent.
